drpooleDr. Chad Poole – Optometrist

Dr. Chad Poole is the first eye doctor to open for business in Braselton. As a third generation optometrist, he follows a strong family tradition in optometry since 1952. After graduating from Southern College of Optometry in May of 2006, becoming the ninth optometrist in his family, Dr. Poole opened Elan Eye Boutique in early 2007. He has specialized training in Ocular Disease and Primary Care Optometry.

Dr. Poole enjoys helping patients of all ages: from the pediatric patient to our oldest patients. He lives with his wife and son in Flowery Branch, just a few miles from our office. He grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina and met his wife in Douglasville, Georgia while preparing for optometry school.

He chose Braselton to settle down for home and business because of the peaceful beauty of the area and of course the friendly people. During his free time Dr. Poole enjoys spending time with his family including former office manager Julie and his new son. He also enjoys hiking, traveling, and volunteers at church and in Scouting.

Dr. Edgar M. Poole, Jr.

Dr. Ed Poole’s main practice is in Spartanburg, SC. He also has a satellite office in Gaffney, SC, where his father Dr. E.M. Poole Sr., began the Poole family tradition in eye care in 1952. Dr Ed will proudly tell you that all four of his children followed him to the profession of optometry, including his youngest, Dr. Chad Poole (owner of Elan Eye).

Dr Ed has been helping Dr. Chad on some Saturdays ever since Elan Eye opened in February 2007. He loves to help at his other childrens’ practices on occasion, especially because it gives him a chance to visit his 11 grandchildren. His light hearted Southern personality and kid-friendly style attract many patients and families to return year after year. He even performs magic tricks for some children when time permits.

julieJulie – Owner (wife of Owner Dr. Chad Poole)

Julie and Chad opened Elan Eye Boutique for business in February 2007. After completing a bachelor’s degree in city planning and marrying Chad, she found work as a billing specialist at the Eye Clinic at Southern College of Optometry, where Chad was studying. The couple has always enjoyed the blessing of spending so much time together at school, work, and at home. Dedicated to Elan Eye since before we could afford an employee, the buck has always stopped here. As janitor, technician, executive secretary, receptionist, cashier, and accountant (also wife, mother, personal assistant and therapist); she is the life blood of our practice. As Kim takes on more duties, Julie hopes to be able to spend more time at home with her new son in the future.
